Research explores embodied experiences of altered neurological states and knowledge-making practices in clinical and laboratory settings. Focuses on how patients, doctors, and scientists interpret imperceptible phenomena beyond language and scientific knowing. Investigates how sensory ethnographic methods can augment neuroscientific understanding through collaborative epistemological approaches.
Fieldwork includes:
- Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (HIV/AIDS, epidemiological surveillance)
- Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya (transnational science, experimental medicine)
Publications emphasize ethnographic writing innovations and sensory methodologies. Recent works examine brain injury experiences, multisensorial ethnography, and decolonizing research practices.
