Deng Liwei is an Associate Professor at the School of New Materials and New Energy, Shenzhen University of Technology, and a Shenzhen High-Level Talent. He holds a doctorate in Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University and has conducted postdoctoral research at Peking University and the Carnegie Institution of Geophysics.
- PhD (2008): Southwest Jiaotong University
- BSc (2003): Sichuan Normal University
His research focuses on theoretical and experimental studies of material properties under extreme conditions, particularly relevant to planetary cores and deep Earth processes. His work involves numerical simulation, high-pressure experiments, and computational modeling of minerals like MgSiO3 perovskite, feldspars, and iron alloys.
Recent publications highlight studies on lunar mantle hydration, planetary core composition, and phase transitions in mantle minerals. His work integrates computational approaches with experimental validation using techniques like synchrotron X-ray diffraction and shock compression.
- Scientific Awards: Shenzhen High-Level Talent (2019)
As principal investigator, he has led NSFC-funded projects on carbon solubility in mantle minerals and participated in major CAS and NSFC initiatives. He serves as a reviewer for multiple journals and collaborates with institutions like Argonne National Laboratory and the Carnegie Institution.
