Demetra Kasimis serves as Assistant Professor in Political Theory at the University of Cambridge's Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), having joined after holding academic positions at the University of Chicago.
Her research critically bridges ancient Greek political thought, contemporary political theory, and feminist theory, with sustained focus on democracy's theoretical foundations and migration studies through historical lenses. This interdisciplinary approach examines how classical frameworks inform modern democratic challenges.
She has received major recognition including fellowships from the American Council for Learned Societies (ACLS), Institute for Advanced Study Princeton, Mellon Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and Onassis Foundation.
