Deirdre Coveney is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Strategy at Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. She holds a PhD in Strategy from Warwick Business School and has a strong research focus on corporate development, particularly mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and the strategic behavior of Private Equity firms.

Her research explores how Private Equity firms create value across their portfolios, their exit strategies, and their increasing role in green investing. She combines quantitative and qualitative methods, utilizing multi-level data to assess the impact of ownership structures on firm performance and survival. Deirdre is particularly interested in governance forms, organizational structures, and sustainability within strategic management.
Deirdre has presented her research at leading international conferences including the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Strategy Science, and Wharton School’s Corporate Strategy and Innovation Conference.

She has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs. She was the Senior Tutor for the Mergers & Acquisitions Global MBA at Warwick Business School from 2020 to 2024 and currently supervises undergraduate dissertations and teaches corporate strategy, innovation management, and CSR at LUBS.
