Dr Deepti Prasad is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Urbanism at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. She holds a PhD and Master's in Urbanism from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Manipal University, India. Her research focuses on smart city development in India, particularly its socio-spatial implications and governance structures in the Global South. She is currently investigating smart city frameworks through an ARC Future Fellowship with A/Prof. Tooran Alizadeh.
Research interests include urban informality, global south urbanism, urban governance, and socio-spatial transformations. She explores how smart city initiatives impact marginalized communities and traditional knowledge systems. She is affiliated with the Sydney Environment Institute and Sydney Southeast Asia Centre.
