Dee M. Lance

Dee M. Lance is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Mississippi's School of Applied Sciences. With over three decades of experience in Speech-Language Pathology since 1988, she specializes in clinical education and has developed a specialty clinic addressing reading difficulties in children with language disorders. Her teaching focuses on language acquisition and disorders, complemented by course development in related areas.

Her research interests include literacy disorders in children with language impairment, dyslexia, and narrative discourse. She has directed 34 undergraduate/master's research projects and 8 doctoral projects, collaborating on state and national research initiatives. Since 2006, she has served as an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Academic Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA), expanding to candidacy site visitor roles since 2012.

Professional contributions include clinical leadership, accreditation oversight, and advancing interdisciplinary research in speech-language pathology through academic and applied projects.
