
Debra Vinci

Dr. Debra Vinci is a Professor in the Department of Movement Sciences and Health at the University of West Florida (UWF). With expertise as a registered dietitian and community health educator, she teaches courses in social marketing, health promotion, and nutrition, preparing students for careers in health education.
- Education: Bachelor's and Master's in Human Nutrition from University of Vermont; Doctorate in Health Education from Loma Linda University
Her research focuses on innovative approaches to childhood physical literacy, including collaborative picture book projects like Walker Finds His Wiggle and Play the Walker Wiggle Way featuring Abby Fitt. She has led obesity prevention initiatives, childhood hunger task forces, and program evaluations for state-wide cancer prevention efforts.
Dr. Vinci previously served as Director of Health Education at Hall Health, University of Washington, and worked for 15 years as an outpatient nutritionist specializing in diabetes education and eating disorder therapy. She joined UWF in 2004.
