Debra Shaw is a Reader (Associate Professor) at the University of East London's Architecture, Computing & Engineering institute. Her scholarship explores posthuman urbanism, science fiction, and digital aesthetics through interdisciplinary frameworks bridging philosophy, cultural theory, and media studies.
Recent works analyze spatial disorientation in migration narratives, glitch art, and the cultural implications of robotics. Dr. Shaw authored Posthuman Urbanism: Mapping Bodies in Contemporary City Space (2017) and edited Women, Science and Fiction Revisited (2023), examining intersections of gender, technology, and speculative fiction.
