Dr. Debra Garee is an Associate Professor of Nursing and Director of the DNP Program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) within the School of Nursing & Health Sciences. She has been with MVNU since 2011 and holds a DNP (2023), MSN (2010), and BSN (1995). Her professional experience spans over 29 years as a registered nurse, with roles including clinical instructor, program coordinator, and staff nurse at Morning View Care Center/Centerburg Point.
Her research focuses on nursing practice innovations, quality improvement, mental health interventions, and spiritual care integration. Notable publications include work on DNP projects, loneliness reduction strategies, and faith-based nursing education. She has received awards for advising excellence and student grant support (2017).
Dr. Garee actively engages in academic advising, grant initiatives, and nursing education program development. She leads the DNP Program and collaborates with organizations like Sigma Theta Tau and Nurse Christian Fellowship. Her career reflects a commitment to advancing nursing education and clinical practice through evidence-based frameworks and interdisciplinary approaches.
