Debra Bartelli, DrPH, is a Research Professor of Urban Health at the University of Memphis' School of Public Health. She holds a DrPH and MPH from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and degrees in Speech Pathology from the University of Kansas. Her research focuses on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), built environment impacts on chronic disease, food insecurity, and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in low-income countries. She co-founded the university’s iIMPACT Center and leads fieldwork in rural Haiti addressing public health infrastructure and clean water access.
Her work includes evaluating healthcare programs, reducing infant mortality, and improving end-of-life care in Shelby County. Notable publications span topics like tobacco’s media influence, pediatric trauma stress, and microbial water analysis in Haiti. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges public health policy, environmental science, and community resilience.
Bartelli’s expertise in program evaluation and global health has driven initiatives to address systemic inequities in urban and rural settings. She collaborates with local and international stakeholders to translate research into actionable health strategies.
