Deborah Jones

Deborah Jones serves as Senior Vice President and Dean of the School of Nursing at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where she also holds the Rebecca Sealy Distinguished Centennial Chair and serves as Chief Integration Officer. Her leadership spans academic administration, healthcare system integration, and nursing education innovation across multiple institutional levels.

Dr. Jones' academic credentials include a PhD in Nursing (Biobehavioral Clinical Research) and MSN in Nursing Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BSN from Radford University. She maintains active professional certifications in Emotional Intelligence (EQ-i 2.0) and Human-centered Design Thinking, alongside her TeamSTEPPS® Master Trainer designation.

Her research program demonstrates a clear evolution from foundational critical care studies on oral health in ventilated patients toward contemporary nursing education and workforce development.
