Deborah Donnell

Deborah Donnell, PhD is a Professor in the Biostatistics Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington. A biostatistician with 25 years of experience, she specializes in the design and analysis of clinical trials for HIV prevention.

• Education: PhD in Statistics (University of Washington, 1987), MA in Mathematics (University of Auckland, 1982), BA in Mathematics and Music (University of Auckland, 1980)

Her research spans HIV prevention strategies, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), treatment as prevention, mother-to-child transmission, and opioid addiction treatment. She leads statistical and data management initiatives for the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN).

Recent projects include trials on injectable Cabotegravir for HIV prevention, ECHO trials comparing contraceptive methods and HIV risk, and PrEP delivery in sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas.
