Elizabeth Brown is a Research Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and a Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, holding dual appointments in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division and Public Health Sciences Division. She is also a Member of the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC) at Fred Hutch.
Her educational background includes:

- BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Virginia (1994)
Dr. Brown specializes in designing and analyzing infectious disease clinical trials, with deep expertise in HIV prevention research. Her methodological work focuses on joint models for longitudinal and survival data, Bayesian statistics, and statistical methods for HIV/AIDS and cardiovascular research. She applies these approaches to critical public health challenges including COVID-19, HPV, and emerging pathogens.
As Principal Investigator for the Microbicide Trials Network and Director of the Statistical and Data Sciences Unit for the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Consortium, she leads major federally funded initiatives. Her current projects address SARS-CoV-2 treatments, HPV vaccine efficacy, and HIV prevention strategies through large-scale clinical trials.
Dr. Brown's leadership has been featured in prominent outlets including Science Spotlight and Hutch News for her contributions to antiviral research, COVID-19 vaccine studies, and HIV prevention technologies like the dapivirine vaginal ring.
