Deborah Cunningham serves as an Adjunct Professor of Piano Music at Le Moyne College, based at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts, and concurrently holds a faculty position in music education at Syracuse University.
She earned her Bachelor of Music in Education and Master of Music in Performance (piano accompaniment) and Education from Syracuse University, establishing her academic foundation in music pedagogy and performance.
Her professional expertise centers on Music Education, Collaborative Piano Performance, and World Music Cultures, with significant contributions to interdisciplinary music studies. As an active collaborative pianist across the Greater Syracuse region, she performs with major ensembles including Symphoria, Syracuse Opera, and Skaneateles Festival, while also serving as a guest conductor and workshop clinician nationwide. Her scholarly work includes co-authoring Travel On and On: Interdisciplinary Lessons on the Music of World Cultures and publications in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education and Music Educators Journal.
At Syracuse University, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in music education and secondary piano, demonstrating her commitment to developing future music educators through both practical performance training and theoretical instruction.
