Deborah C. Luckett is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Natural Sciences at Fordham College at Lincoln Center, Fordham University, specializing in mammalian aging and human genetic disorders. She actively mentors students through independent research projects and coordinates Fordham's participation in the Eastern Colleges Science Conferences.
- Ph.D. in Genetics from Fordham University, Bronx, New York
- M.S. in Biology from Fordham University, Bronx, New York
- B.S. in Biology from Pace University, New York, New York
Her research focuses on cellular senescence in fibroblast models (WS1, CCD-Sk1070, IMR-90), utilizing assays like SA-β-galactosidase to explore aging mechanisms. She integrates her expertise into courses such as Biology of Aging, Human Function and Dysfunction, and NSCI 4999 Independent Study, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to science.
Luckett has co-authored NSF-funded projects, including the Fordham University/Wildlife Conservation Society Robert Noyce Scholarship Program and laboratory improvement grants. Her collaborative work with students has resulted in presentations at regional conferences like the Eastern Colleges Science Conference and Fordham's Natural Sciences Research Symposium.
As an educator and researcher, she bridges genetics, biology, and science policy through her teaching in Science, Technology and Society, while fostering undergraduate research opportunities through campus-based initiatives.
