Deborah Bauer is the Peter and Molly Powell Distinguished Senior Instructor II of Finance and Academic Director of the Oregon Executive MBA program at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she leads undergraduate finance courses and directs the Executive MBA program while pioneering asynchronous online instruction since 2009.
Her educational credentials include an MS in Finance from the University of Oregon (2001) and a BS from Bryant College (1997).
Bauer's professional focus centers on transforming finance education through innovative online pedagogy. She develops inclusive asynchronous learning environments using Universal Design for Learning principles, closed-captioned videos, multi-format course materials, and varied assessment methods. Her approach emphasizes student partnership through introductory videos, discussion boards requiring peer engagement, and in-person study sessions to combat finance-related anxiety.
