Dr. Debbie Cooke is a Professor and Reader in Health Sciences at the University of Surrey, leading the School of Health Sciences as Postgraduate Research Director. Her research focuses on improving self-management of long-term conditions, particularly diabetes, through technological and behavioral interventions. She has contributed to major programs like DAFNEplus and BEAT Diabetes, aiming to enhance patient outcomes through structured education and digital tools.
Dr. Cooke holds a PhD in Health Psychology from University College London (UCL), where she previously worked as a Research Fellow. She has led numerous studies funded by organizations such as the NIHR, including a £175,000 grant for the PRIORITY trial targeting disordered eating in children with type 1 diabetes. Her work integrates psychosocial aspects of diabetes care, emphasizing patient-centered approaches.
