Professor Christina Jones is a clinical health psychologist at the University of Surrey's School of Psychology (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences). Her research focuses on developing interventions for psychological and physical health challenges in chronic conditions like allergy, asthma, and diabetes. She specializes in mixed-methods evaluations, including randomized controlled trials and qualitative studies, to assess patient preferences and healthcare contexts. Her work emphasizes public engagement and translating complex research findings for children, young people, and families.
Key achievements include winning the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Postgraduate Supervisor of the Year and leading the PRIORITY trial on disordered eating prevention in children with type 1 diabetes. She has supervised over 20 doctoral projects, including Patricia Soares' 2019 PhD on genetic variation in eczema/asthma outcomes. Teaching roles include convening the Research Methods unit for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Program (2018–2022).
Her research portfolio spans food allergy management, asthma prescribing genetics, and long-COVID outcomes in children. She collaborates internationally on guidelines like EAACI’s IgE-mediated allergy management. Recent grants include £175,000 for diabetes-related eating disorder interventions.
