Debashis Sarker

Dr. Debashis Sarker is a Lecturer at the Centre for Healthy Sustainable Development (CHSD) under Torrens University Australia. He also serves as a Guest Lecturer at James Cook University Queensland since 2022.

• PhD in Development and Disability Studies, University of Queensland, Australia
• Research Master in European Microfinance, University Libre De Brussels, Belgium
• MBA and BBA from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh

His research focuses on disability-inclusive development, microfinance, and the social/economic empowerment of people with disabilities. He specializes in qualitative data analysis to inform policy, with fieldwork in Bangladesh, Nepal, Ghana, Chile, and Ireland. Recent publications examine barriers to microfinance for people with disabilities, gender-based challenges in Bangladesh, and inclusive education programs in global university contexts.

Dr. Sarker has presented at prestigious conferences including Harvard University, Australian National University, and University of Geneva. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 (No Poverty), 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
