Deb Jaisi is a Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. They specialize in environmental biogeochemistry, focusing on phosphorus dynamics across multiple scales.
Education:
- Postdoc – Yale University, New Haven, CT
- Ph.D. – Miami University, Oxford, OH
- M.S. – Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand
- M.S. – Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal
Research Interests: Deb Jaisi's research at the Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory (EBL) explores phosphorus biogeochemistry under three axes: (i) phosphorus as an essential nutrient, (ii) as a contaminant in open waters, and (iii) as a biocidal agent. Their work spans scales from molecular-level chemical bond analysis to ecosystem-level nutrient cycling in terrestrial and coastal environments.
Laboratory: The Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory (EBL) conducts interdisciplinary research to address phosphorus-related challenges in sustainability, pollution, and ecosystem health.
