Professor Dean Hanlon is Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting at RMIT University’s School of Accounting, Information Systems & Supply Chain. He holds a PhD in accounting and has 25+ years in academia. His research focuses on financial reporting, taxation, and corporate governance, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and industry grants. He serves on the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) Board and Academic Advisory Panel, and advises CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, and Hong Kong’s Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Research Interests: His work examines financial reporting standards, tax policy implications, audit practices, and corporate governance dynamics. Notable areas include boardroom ethics, audit fee determinants, and the impact of accounting standards on capital markets. Recent studies explore readability of annual reports and its link to equity mispricing.
