Dr. DeAnne Davis Brooks is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). With over two decades of experience coaching track and field at youth and collegiate levels, she combines academic and practical expertise in sports science. Her educational background includes degrees in Kinesiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology, and Exercise and Sport Science, complemented by a post-baccalaureate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies.

Dr. Brooks specializes in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives in higher education and athletics. She chairs the EDI Committee for the Department of Kinesiology, contributes to the EDI Committee in UNCG’s School of Health and Human Sciences, and consults with major athletics organizations to advance inclusive practices.
Her scholarly work focuses on sport coaching, physical activity in underrepresented groups, and athlete career transitions. She co-developed the Moving On! program to support student-athletes transitioning to lifelong physical activity and has delivered national lectures on this topic. Dr. Brooks teaches courses such as KIN 250 Introduction to Kinesiology and KIN 286 Foundations of Sport Coaching.
