Dawn Prentice, RN, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Nursing at Brock University and serves as the Graduate Program Director for the Concurrent Bachelor of Nursing/Master of Nursing (BN/MN) program. Her research focuses on gerontological nursing, interprofessional collaborative practice, and nursing roles within healthcare systems. She currently holds the role of Editor-in-Chief for Perspectives: The Journal of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association.
Dr. Prentice’s academic background includes clinical experience with older adults and leadership in nursing education. She teaches courses such as NURS 4L01 (Nursing Foundations: Care of Adults and Older Adults) and NURS 5D19 (Practice of Relational Leadership and Management). Her publications emphasize collaborative care models, nursing practice guidelines, and healthcare transition strategies for aging populations. Recent work includes studies on interprofessional education effectiveness and evaluation of social policies impacting healthcare equity.
Her research demonstrates a commitment to improving patient-centered care through interdisciplinary collaboration, with a focus on translating evidence into clinical practice. Dr. Prentice is actively involved with professional organizations including the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association and the Canadian Nurses Association.
