Davinia Gregory-Kameka is an Assistant Professor in the Arts Administration Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her interdisciplinary work bridges material culture studies, Caribbean studies, and the sociology of race. She holds a BA in Illustration (University of Westminster, 2006), MA in History of Design (Royal College of Art, 2010), and PhD in Sociology and Cultural Policy Studies (University of Warwick, 2020). Her research focuses on organizational closures in Black-led arts institutions and the socio-political impacts of cultural policy.
Dr. Gregory’s teaching emphasizes global perspectives and ethical leadership in the arts, combining interactive workshops with critical analyses of systemic inequalities. She has taught at institutions including the Royal College of Art, University of Warwick, and museums like the V&A and Louvre. Her recent projects include documenting the legacy of The Drum Arts Centre in Birmingham and analyzing decolonization in design education.
Her publications span sociology, material culture, and urban studies, with a forthcoming book based on her PhD research. Key presentations include discussions on decolonizing art education and Black feminist methodologies at venues such as the International Sociological Association Convention and Savvy Contemporary Berlin.
