Davide Fissore

Davide Fissore is a Full Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, affiliated with the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT). He coordinates the College of Chemical and Materials Engineering and is a member of the Interdepartmental Center R3C (Responsible Risk Resilience Centre). His expertise spans chemical process engineering, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and advanced process control techniques.

Research Interests: Professor Fissore’s work focuses on freeze-drying optimization, process analytical technology (PAT), and nanostructured materials for drug delivery. He develops model-based tools for monitoring and controlling freeze-drying processes, with applications in pharmaceuticals and food industries. Recent projects include using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and thermography for real-time process monitoring.

Teaching and Leadership: He teaches courses in chemical process development, advanced process control, and food industry technologies at the master’s level. He has been involved in doctoral programs in Chemical Engineering since 2021 and leads the MULTIPHASE Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s program on multiphase systems for sustainable engineering (2023–2029).

Projects and Grants: He leads and collaborates on projects funded by commercial contracts (e.g., Quality-by-Design in pharmaceutical manufacturing) and competitive grants (e.g., ProPep project for protecting pepper crops). Notable collaborations include partnerships with Millrock Technologies and Benefit Mazzini Lab.

Labs and Teams: He oversees the Lyophilization Laboratory (LYOLAB), Pharmaceutical Technology Lab, and SAfeR Research Centre. His work intersects with applied biotechnology and multiscale modeling for materials science.
