David Yang

Dr. David Yang (Class of 1994) is the Chief of Optometry and Co-Residency Supervisor at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, affiliated with the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. He completed a residency in Geriatric/Hospital-Based Optometry at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in 1995 and is Board Certified in Medical Optometry by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry (ABCMO).

Currently a Clinical Professor at UCBSO, Dr. Yang has held faculty positions since 1996 and served in leadership roles including Chair of the American Optometric Association Contact Lens and Cornea Section (AOA-CLCS) On-Line Committee and Chief Editor of the AOA-CLCS Newsletter. He is a Council Member for the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education and Co-Chair of the VA National Optometry Contact Lens Workgroup.

His research and clinical expertise focus on ocular disease and contact lenses, with extensive lecturing experience at regional, national, and international levels. Awards include the Roy Brandreth Excellence-in-Teaching Award, Bernie Dolan Resident Mentor of the Year Award, and the Rodger T. Kame Award for service to the American Optometric Association.
