David Westling is the Adelaide Worth Daniels Distinguished Professor of Special Education at Western Carolina University (WCU), located within the College of Education and Allied Professions and the School of Teaching and Learning. He serves as co-director of the WCU University Participant Program. His work focuses on severe disabilities, behavior interventions, post-secondary education for students with intellectual disabilities (ID), and inclusive teacher preparation.
Education: Dr. Westling holds an Education Doctorate (EDD), Master of Education (MED), and Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAED), all from the University of Florida. His academic contributions bridge research, teaching, and practical support for individuals with special needs.
Research interests include advancing inclusive education systems, developing effective behavior intervention strategies, and ensuring equitable post-secondary pathways for students with disabilities. He actively collaborates in initiatives promoting teacher readiness for diverse classroom environments.
