David Vauzour is an Associate Professor in Molecular Nutrition at the University of East Anglia’s Norwich Medical School. He is a member of the Norwich Institute for Healthy Aging, Metabolic Health, and Nutrition and Preventive Medicine groups. His research focuses on dietary strategies to delay neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s) and cardiovascular diseases via mechanisms involving polyphenols, neuroinflammation, and APOE4 genotype interactions.
Education: PhD in Chemical and Biological Sciences from University Montpellier 1, France; MSc and BSc in Biological/Molecular Sciences from University Bordeaux 2, France. Professional memberships include the Groupe Polyphenols and Biochemical Society.
Key research areas include phytochemicals’ effects on brain aging, molecular mechanisms of neuroprotection, and translational studies linking diet to personalized medicine. He leads projects funded by BBSRC, MRC, and industry partners (e.g., Naturex, Microphyt SA) targeting interventions for menopause-related cognitive decline and gut-brain axis modulation.
Recent work emphasizes gut microbiota’s role in cognitive health, with studies on saffron extracts, Mediterranean diets, and prebiotic/probiotic solutions. His lab investigates APOE4 genotype impacts on disease risk and dietary responsiveness, particularly in aging populations.
