David V. Rosowsky is a Foundation Professor of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU), holding roles as Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Fellow of the University Design Institute. He previously served as Provost and Senior Vice President at the University of Vermont (UVM) from 2013–2019, Dean of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Head of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University.
Education:
- B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering, Tufts University
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Johns Hopkins University
Research Interests: Focuses on structural reliability, design for natural hazards, stochastic modeling of structural loads, and probability-based codified design. His work in wind and earthquake engineering addresses infrastructure resilience and mitigation strategies. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers and 140 conference proceedings, with global research engagements in France, Italy, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

Leadership & Outreach: A prominent higher education leader, he writes for Forbes.com, Chronicle of Higher Education, and other outlets, advocating for public universities’ innovation and governance. His recent focus includes strategic change management and institutional design through ASU’s University Design Institute.
