David Tuveson is a Professor and Director of the Cancer Center at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). His research focuses on pancreatic cancer, organoid models, and translational oncology. He leads initiatives such as the PASS-01 clinical trial using patient-derived organoids to predict treatment responses and chairs the AACR Cancer Centers Alliance.
Key achievements include developing the first mouse models for pancreatic cancer subtypes and founding CSHL’s organoid facility. He has earned prestigious awards like the 2022 Luminary Award and election to the National Academy of Medicine. His work integrates genetics, molecular biology, and clinical trials to combat pancreatic cancer’s aggressiveness and therapeutic resistance.
- Leadership Roles: AACR President-Elect (2021), AACR Academy Fellow (2020)
- Key Projects: Organoid-based precision medicine, KRAS pathway targeting, and pancreatic cancer interception strategies
Research interests also span cancer-associated fibroblasts, immunotherapy, and early detection technologies. Collaborations include work with Nobel laureate K. Barry Sharpless on click chemistry applications in drug discovery.
Future Directions: Expanding organoid clinical trials, advancing AACR-led cancer center collaborations, and exploring genetic and metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic tumors.
