Dr. David Trouille is a Professor of Sociology at James Madison University's Department of Sociology and Anthropology. He specializes in urban sociology, international migration, race and ethnicity, ethnography, and symbolic interaction. His work explores public space dynamics, Latino immigrant integration, and the intersection of sports with cultural identity.
His research spans topics such as intersituational variation in ethnography, neighborhood conflicts over public space, and the historical evolution of ethnic sports communities in Chicago. He teaches courses on the sociology of race and ethnicity, microsociology, immigration studies, and ethnographic methods.
Dr. Trouille earned a BA in Sociology from Dartmouth College, an MST in Education from Fordham University, an MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
