David Swift is a Lecturer in Primary Education and Year 1 lead for the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS programme at the University of Sunderland. He joined the university in January 2021 after 18 years of primary school teaching experience, including six years as a Primary Head Teacher. His expertise spans safeguarding, pastoral care, and supporting vulnerable families, with a specialism in primary science and strong interests in RE, music, mathematics, and literacy.
He teaches across Initial Teacher Training courses (BA and PGCE) and the BA (Hons) Education Studies, serving as a personal tutor and University-Based Mentor for trainees. His professional focus is enabling educators to reach their full potential through mentorship and training.
