David Somers is Professor and Director of the Neuroimaging, Perception & Attention Laboratory at Boston University's Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences. His research combines fMRI, psychophysics, and computational modeling to study visual perception, attention, and cognition. He investigates neural circuitry for visual tasks and cognitive modulation of these networks.
Key research themes:
- fMRI mapping of visual and attentional networks
- Cortico-cerebellar interactions in cognition
- Working memory neural substrates
Recent publications focus on connectome-based pathology modeling, fNIRS signal optimization, and cerebellar functional organization. He teaches graduate courses in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging methodologies.
