استاد · Regulator of G Protein Signaling (RGS proteins)
University of North Texas Health Science Centerمعرفی
David Siderovski, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Neuroscience at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) within the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their regulators, particularly the Regulator of G Protein Signaling (RGS) proteins. He discovered the first RGS protein (RGS2/G0S8) in 1994, which revolutionized understanding of G-protein signaling desensitization.
- Education:
- B.Sc.(Hons) in Biochemistry, Queen's University (Kingston)
- Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics, University of Toronto
- Key Research Areas:
- RGS proteins' role in modulating GPCR signaling
- Drug discovery targeting RGS proteins
- GPCR signaling dynamics in health and disease
Dr. Siderovski has received sustained NIH/NIDA and NEI funding for projects investigating RGS12's role in opioid receptor signaling, cocaine addiction treatment, and glaucoma therapies. His work spans basic molecular biology to translational drug development, with over 180 peer-reviewed publications and 19,324 citations (h-index 63).
Grants & Projects:
- "UNTHSC Team Science - Team-based discovery and preclinical evaluation of cocaine addiction treatments" (Co-PI, ongoing)
- "The Role of RGS12 in Differential Modulation of G Protein versus β-Arrestin Signaling downstream of the Kappa Opioid Receptor" (PI, 2021–2025)
His lab's recent work explores RGS proteins in neurological and inflammatory diseases, leveraging computational pharmacology and structural biology approaches.
