David Siaussat

David Siaussat is an Associate Professor at Sorbonne University, affiliated with the Paris Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences (iEES Paris). He serves as Team Leader of the Chemo-reception and Adaptation Team (CReA) within the Sensory Ecology Department (EcoSens) and is co-leader of a Master's course in Ecophysiology and Ecotoxicology.

Dr. Siaussat's research focuses on understanding the impact of anthropogenic pollutants on insects, with particular emphasis on the olfactory system and behavior. His work examines pollutants such as phytosanitary products (insecticides, herbicides), heavy metals (cadmium, selenium, etc.) and endocrine disruptors (bisphenol A, phthalates, etc.). He studies sublethal doses, cocktail effects and interactions with abiotic parameters like temperature. He also leads biocontrol research programs aimed at developing sustainable solutions against crop pests. His research interests span Agroecology, Molecular biology, Climate change, Chemoreception, Development, EcoHealth, Environmental pollution and Insect chemical ecology.

His recent publications reveal a strong focus on the interactions between environmental stressors (particularly temperature variations) and chemical pollutants in insect models. His work often employs the moth Spodoptera littoralis as a model organism to study transgenerational effects, pesticide sensitivity, and physiological adaptations.

Dr. Siaussat has served in several editorial roles, including as Editor of the "Insect" Journal (2020) and Thematic Editor of "The Canadian Entomologist" (2015).

He has held various leadership positions including:

• 2021: Coordinator of the Biodiversity and Sustainable Development Flagship of the European Alliance 4EU+
• 2019: CNRS representative in the national biocontrol consortium
• 2017-2021: Elected member of the Council of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Sorbonne University
• 2017-2020: Director of the Natincontrol Joint Laboratory (ANR Labcom)
