David Schwarcz

David Schwarcz is a doctoral student at the University of Vienna, affiliated with the Institute of Prehistory and Historical Archaeology. Since 2010, he has been involved in national and international research projects, focusing on Byzantine material culture with particular emphasis on fine metalwork, jewelry, and clothing components. He studied archaeology (specializing in prehistory and early history) at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and completed goldsmith training there in 2008.

His research explores similarities and differences in metal jewelry from the Early and Middle Byzantine Period, combining technical craftsmanship analysis with broader archaeological contexts.
