Dr. Davide Bianchi is a postdoctoral researcher in the "Ancient Religion" focus group at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and holds a visiting lecturer position at the University of Pécs since 2023. His research centers on Late Antiquity and Early Byzantine archaeology, particularly examining sacred spaces and material culture across the Mediterranean.
- Education: PhD in Christian and Byzantine archaeology (University of Milan, 2017)
- Key Projects: "Caskets of Late Antiquity" (project head), "Early Christianity in Hungary", "Accommodation/Living in Sacred Contexts"
- Research Focus: Syncretic religious imagery, relic veneration in sacred spaces, monastic practices in the Holy Land, and intercultural dynamics between the Danubian provinces and Near East
