David Schenker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classics, Archaeology, and Religion at the University of Missouri, where he has worked since 1991. Previously, he taught at Allegheny College (Pennsylvania) after completing his B.A. at Vanderbilt and M.A./Ph.D. at Berkeley. His teaching spans Classical Humanities courses and Greek language instruction, including seminars on tragedians and Plato.

His research focuses on 5th-4th century BCE Greek literature, particularly tragedy and Plato's dialogues, with co-edited work on reception studies. Recent projects include A Companion to Greek Literature (2016), reflecting his expertise in classical texts and their modern interpretations.
Professor Schenker actively engages in the Honors College and has participated in curricular development for Greek language courses. His current roles include department chair, temporarily pausing research projects related to classical reception.
