David Riese is a Professor at Auburn University in the Department of Drug Discovery and Development, Harrison College of Pharmacy, with secondary appointments as Senior Scientist at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Cancer Center and former Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs (2010-2018). His educational background includes a Biology A.B. from Wabash College (1987) and Genetics M.Phil./Ph.D. from Yale University (1989/1993).

- ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases
- Mechanistic cancer biology
- Targeted melanoma therapy
- Triple-negative cancer research
- Childhood brain tumor mechanisms
Publications: Recent work (2020-2022) focuses on ERBB4 mutations in BRAF WT melanoma, high-throughput drug screening for ERBB4 modulators, and computational mutation analysis. Earlier publications (1995-2014) established foundational signaling mechanisms of ErbB4 receptors and ligand specificity.
Current Funding: Principal Investigator on 2020-2022 Auburn University Intramural Grant ($50,000) for melanoma driver mutation identification.
Lab Personnel: Mentors graduate students Vipasha Dwivedi, Lauren Lucas, and Rania Mohamedelhassan in the Riese Laboratory at Auburn University.
