معرفی
David F. Stern is a Professor of Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine, serving as Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Sciences and Associate Director of Shared Resources at Yale Cancer Center. He earned his BS from MIT (1976), PhD from UC San Diego/Salk Institute (1983), and completed postdoctoral training at MIT's Whitehead Institute. His research focuses on growth factor signaling in breast cancer and melanoma, particularly ERBB receptor pathways and drug resistance mechanisms. He also investigates DNA damage responses and has contributed to understanding ErbB2/HER2's role in cancer.
Education:
- BS in Biology, MIT (1976)
- PhD in Biology, UC San Diego/Salk Institute (1983)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Whitehead Institute/MIT (1988)
Research Interests: Stern's work spans breast cancer, melanoma, and DNA damage pathways. He explores how ERBB receptors drive malignancy and develops strategies to counteract therapeutic resistance. Recent efforts include combinatorial drug screening for triple-negative breast cancer and analyzing ERBB4's role in cholesterol metabolism.
Awards: Recognized for contributions to cancer research, including honors from Yale Cancer Center (2022–2023).
Labs/Teams: Leads the Stern Lab, collaborating with researchers like David Rimm and Zhaoxia Sun on signaling pathways and targeted therapies. Active in Yale's Cancer Center scientific leadership and training initiatives.
