Dr David Reubi is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Sociology and Global Health at King’s College London’s Department of Global Health & Social Medicine, part of the School of Global Affairs. He holds a prestigious sabbatical until August 2025. His work focuses on the politics of knowledge in biomedicine and global health, examining how interdisciplinary social sciences reshape health governance. He has been funded by major institutions including the Wellcome Trust and the European Research Council. Previously, he worked at the London School of Economics, UN Human Rights Office, and Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
His research explores postcolonial science studies, health metrics, and the socio-political dimensions of global health policies. Current projects include Cartographies of Cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa (an archival/ethnographic study) and Biopolitics of the African Smoking Epidemic. His research group, Culture, Medicine & Power, investigates health’s social, cultural, and historical dimensions, with a focus on South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
Awarded fellowships like the British Chevening Scholarship and ESRC Seminar Series Award, he has published widely on topics like epidemiological imaginaries, global health geographies, and tobacco control. His work bridges medical history, sociology, and policy analysis, addressing critical issues like non-communicable diseases and health equity in low-resource settings.
He leads interdisciplinary projects funded by Wellcome Trust and EU grants, emphasizing collaborative research on global health challenges. His advisory roles and grants highlight his influence in shaping health policy frameworks internationally.
