David Ramsey

David Ramsey is Professor and Chair of the Reubin O'D. Askew Department of Government at the University of West Florida's College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. His research focuses on constitutional law and political philosophy, with current work centered on creating the first scholarly digital edition of Roger B. Taney's papers. Dr. Ramsey holds a bachelor’s degree in government and English from Berry College, a master’s in liberal arts from St. John’s College, and a doctorate in political science from Baylor University.

His research explores the interplay between legal institutions and philosophical foundations of governance, examining how historical decisions shape contemporary legal frameworks. Ramsey's work bridges theoretical political philosophy with practical judicial analysis.
