معرفی
Dr. David Qualtrough is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Sciences within the College of Health and Applied Sciences at the University of the West of England, Bristol. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms in colorectal and breast cancer progression.
He holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) degree. His academic journey has centered on cancer cell biology with emphasis on tumor microenvironment interactions.
Dr. Qualtrough's research spans cancer biology with particular focus on molecular oncology pathways. He investigates metabolic dependencies in colorectal cancer, gut bacteria-tumor cell interactions, and signaling pathways (hedgehog, PI3K/Akt, Ras/ERK) in breast cancer. His work on actin-bundling protein fascin and BCAT isoforms has revealed critical roles in tumor progression and metastasis. Current projects explore bacterial metabolic influences on cancer cell behavior and therapeutic targeting of signaling cascades.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications shows consistent focus on colorectal cancer progression mechanisms and breast cancer subtype differentiation. His work integrates cancer metabolism, microbiome interactions, and cell signaling to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities. The research predominantly employs in vitro tumor cell models to dissect proliferation, migration, and invasion mechanisms, with recent emphasis on metabolic dependencies as potential treatment targets.
