David Pires

David Pires is an active researcher and Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, affiliated with the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS). His work focuses on the complex interactions between humans and microbes, particularly in the context of tuberculosis and HIV infections.

Pires' research centers on developing host-directed strategies to improve immune responses against microbial pathogens, with particular focus on macrophages, dendritic cells, and T-cells. His work also involves screening for new antimicrobial molecules and drug delivery strategies to combat drug-resistant strains.
