David Papineau is Professor of Philosophy of Science at King’s College London, focusing on metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and epistemology. His research addresses consciousness, causation, and the foundations of naturalism, with recent work examining physicalism, illusionism, and the metaphysics of sensory experience.
He has written extensively on philosophical naturalism, decision theory, and scientific realism, with books including Philosophical Naturalism, Thinking About Consciousness, and The Metaphysics of Sensory Experience. Papineau served as President of the Mind Association and Aristotelian Society.
His public engagement includes regular contributions to the Times Literary Supplement and Wall Street Journal, along with the book Knowing the Score on philosophy and sport. He has held positions at Cambridge, Macquarie, and CUNY.
