David P. Roy is a Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Spatial Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU), where he was hired under the Global Impact initiative. He also serves as Director of the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations. With a distinguished career spanning institutions in Europe and the U.S., he remains an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Maryland and South Dakota State University.

- B.Sc. in Geophysics, University of Lancaster (1987)
His research focuses on developing remote sensing and computational methods to map and characterize the Earth system, particularly terrestrial global change, now termed environmental data science. He has been a key member of NASA Satellite Science Teams and led the MODIS Land Data Operational Product Evaluation group at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center for eight years.
