David Outomuro is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Biological Sciences, working in the Morehouse Lab since 2017. His research focuses on the evolution of color signals, color vision, and flight morphology in jumping spiders, dragonflies, damselflies, and butterflies. He integrates physiological, ecological, and behavioral studies with modeling and advanced statistical analyses to explore how natural and sexual selection drive population divergence. He previously held postdoctoral positions at Uppsala University (2015-2017, 2011-2013) and was a Visiting Professor at Universidad de los Andes in 2014-2015.

His research spans three main areas: (1) Visual Ecology of predator-prey systems, studying costs/benefits of conspicuous coloration in sexual selection and aposematism; (2) Functional Morphology of flight, examining how wing shape and size evolve under natural and sexual selection; and (3) Mimicry Systems, particularly Neotropical flight mimicry in Polythoridae damselflies. His recent publications emphasize color vision evolution, wing morphology, and predator-prey dynamics.
David collaborates with researchers like Nathan Morehouse, Frank Johansson, and Anders Ödeen. His work combines retinal microspectrophotometry, shape analysis, behavioral experiments, and field studies. Current projects include analyzing female attention during male courtship in Habronattus spiders and investigating wing pigmentation as a flickering signal.
