David Outomuro

David Outomuro is an Assistant Professor in Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. As a behavioral ecologist, he studies micro/macroevolutionary processes promoting diversity, particularly through:

• Evolution of color signals and vision
• Flight morphology adaptations
• Behavioral interactions in arthropods

Using an integrative approach combining field/lab studies with advanced statistics, his model organisms include dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and spiders. Research spans signal evolution, sensory ecology, and phenotypic adaptation.
