Dr. David Newton is Professor and Senior Fellow for Student Success at University of West Georgia, with joint appointments in the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and Office of the Provost. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from Emory University (1993). His work focuses on language variation in the United States and Southern culture.
Newton coordinates the university's SACSCOC Quality Enhancement Plan and USG Momentum initiatives. His administrative roles include curriculum design, faculty development, and serving as liaison to the University System of Georgia. Publications examine linguistic patterns and educational methodologies.
