David Silva

David Silva serves as Provost and Academic Vice President at Salem State University, overseeing all academic activities including degree programs, curriculum, faculty support, and accreditations. His leadership extends to managing academic deans and centers like the Center for Civic Engagement and the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

• Education: BA in Linguistics from Harvard University, MA and PhD in Linguistics from Cornell University.

As a scholar, Dr. Silva's research spans linguistics, socio-phonetics, and language variation/change, with a focus on Korean and Portuguese dialects. His recent publications emphasize pedagogy and academic administration, reflecting his dual commitment to research and institutional leadership.

His funded projects include support from the Fulbright Program, Korea Foundation, and Academy of Korean Studies. Dr. Silva also earned the honorary Distinguished Teaching Professor title at the University of Texas at Arlington.
